If you are making a jump from an older version, such as 9.x to 11.x, there are several steps you will need to take to migrate that older version of Journyx to the newer version of Journyx.

1. On your older version of Journyx you will need to create a backup of your Journyx database.

For backupdb instructions refer to the SysAdmin Guide linked below.

2A. If you will be running your new version of Journyx on the same server then you will need to:

Windows: You will need to make sure that the .jx backup file created in step 1 is in a safe place out side of the Journyx install dir.

Once that is done you will need to uninstall the older version of Journyx, reboot the server and delete or rename the old Journyx install dir.

Then move on to step 3.

Linux: On Linux if you create a new Linux user you can leave the existing Journyx install and install under the new Linux user on a different port.

2B. If you will be running the new version of Journyx on a different server then you can move to step 3.

3. Install the new version of Journyx on your new server.

4. Run restoredb using the backup made in step 1 above on your new Journyx install.

For restoredb instructions refer to the SysAdmin Guide linked below.
